FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Do I need a referral/prescription for physical therapy?

No. In the state of North Carolina, a referral/prescription for Physical Therapy is not required. North Carolina offers unlimited and unrestricted access to a physical therapist.

What does Out-of-Network mean?

Restore Physiotherapy is an out-of-network provider. This means that we do not bill insurance directly. We are able to provide patients with documentation to submit to their insurance company for reimbursement based on your specific plan’s out-of-network benefits. We are happy to help you navigate this process.

Why do you not bill insurance?

In the current insurance-based model of outpatient physical therapy, PTs typically see multiple patients per hour and spend limited time with them at each visit (often 15 minutes or less). Insurance also places restrictions that limit the treatment PTs can provide to patients. As an Out-of-Network provider, we are able to dedicate your full appointment time to you and give you our full attention. There is no need to be juggled with several other patients during your scheduled appointment.

What forms of payment are accepted?

We accept cash, checks, and all major credit cards.

What can I expect for my first visit and how do I prepare?

Please have all forms completed prior to your visit. These will be emailed to you directly. The appointment starts with a thorough subjective examination that includes medical history, exercise habits, and any other necessary information. We then test strength, range of motion, joint mobility, and functional limitations to determine any relevant restrictions. Lastly, we discuss the best plan forward and start treatment the same day.

What should I wear?

Any loose fitting/comfortable clothing works fine. Shorts are preferred if we are evaluating your hip or knee.

How often do I need to see you?

This varies person to person and depends on the specific focus of care. Some patients need consistent care for a few weeks, while others may elect for a maintenance-type program. This is not your typical physical therapy clinic where you come three times a week for eight weeks. Since we can dedicate more time with you at each visit, progress tends to happen much faster and require less visits.
